WHO NEXT FOR THE ACADEMY HOT SEAT?

Id mount a 1 man protest outside Finch Farm if Noel Blake was considered for the role! His time with England has been shambolic, cant be trusted with such an asset as FF.

Wouldn't be surprised if we brought back Neil Dewsnip from the FA, surely running Evertons Academy full time is better than a part time hands on role with the FA.

Doubt it'll be anyone internal, they don't have the experience, you're not just a coach remember, you're effectively the Manager of over a hundred players and staff. Rules out Sheedy, Stubbs and Ferguson completely.

Doubt anyone from Wigan is in the frame, didn't Barrow turn down a move to us in the summer anyway? Their Academy staff aren't worth a sniff.

Dan Ashworth from the FA would be great too, forward thinking smart guy, experienced with transfers, contracts and all the ins and out of running the show.

.......was thinking about Dewsnip myself. I'm sure RM has somebody in mind for this key role and it wouldn't surprise me if he's foreign.

Our strength is our local recruitment. Almost all the talented local kids have signed for us over the last decade.

We have a great scouting policy on Merseyside with a massive network of scouts.

The very worst thing we could do is bring in someone with no knowledge of, or no interest in, the local youth leagues. The RS did this and set back their recruitment years whilst bringing in literally hundreds of foreign youngsters none of whom made it.

surprised Jordi Cruyff hasn't been mentioned yet. Steeped in the Barcelona way, buddies with Martinez and has been very successful with Maccabi in a directors role.

Great - he can help Stubbs advise our best kids to go to Utd.lol

we could get Roy Keane in.

he'd train the kids up properly.

We don't want someone to old school for the role, whilst they may be a true blue we need someone who is up to date with modern coaching techniques and familiar with Martinez' preferred style of play. Local knowledge can be retained through existing networks and built upon for the future.

It's hard to judge prospective coaches, as none of us knows exactly how they work or what they do. Tony Grant is first team coach at Blackburn. He'd get my unqualified and uneducated nod of approval.

...fair point, but I think that is more about the approach and network than personal knowledge from the man at the top. The lead needs to have a view reconciled with RM and maintain the continuity of capturing the very best local talent.

OT I know,but,
How does the recruitement actually work?
Only by scouting the boys then sign them or is there some tryout system?
