Who is your fave drummer ever?

I tend not to get involved too much in the music threads on here as I don't think my music tastes are 'cool' enough.
But I do like the drums....a lot (not the crappy indie band!).

So who is your fave drummer ever?

I have two...

My first is...Animal from the Muppets:

My second and quite in fashion what with Blink making a come back is... Travis Barker:

The man has a lot of haters, but to me he's a hero.

Who is yours!?

Haha, funnily enough I saw these live last year after hearing about 3 songs of theirs. Tickets were only £11 but they weren't good. Haven't listened to a song of theirs since.

Albeit rather predictable, I'm going to say Dave Grohl from his days with Nirvana. Love the guy!

Cue the QI sirens....

He's without a shadow of a doubt the finest drummer I've ever seen, but here's some personal favourites: Jon Theodore, Carla Azar, John Stanier, Ben Koller, Joey Jordison, Scotty Giffin, Carl McGinley/Tyler Newberry (who are the two current drummers in Kylesa, and play at the same time to create this all-encompassing, relentless rhythm), Dominic Howard, Phil Selway, Edward Dutton, Chris Guanlao, Janet Weiss and Meg White. Yes, Meg White.

Personal favourites, remember. A good drummer isn't necessarily someone who can hit their drums the fastest, which is an annoying misconception.

Actually I've changed my mind.

John Bonham, Led Zeppelin. RIP.

His drum solo in Moby dick was ridiculous.

This is turning in to the John Bonham appreciation thread. :)

Legend.

I wonder what kind of cocktail of pharmaceuticals he had running through his veins during that drum solo.

Bill Bruford.

Not just because he's a great drummer but also because when he played at the Liverpool Student Union once with what was effectively King Crimson ( Bruford, Tony Levin, Adrain Belew and Robert Fripp ) when they put out the Discipline album. We met the band in the canteen having their egg and chips before the gig and they spent half an hour chatting to us once we'd plucked up courage o talk to 'em.

Apart from Bill and the previously mentioned Bonham I'd add Art Blakey to the list. Cozy Powell wasn't the greatest drummer but was a great showman. Stewart Copeland is underrated and pretty good too. Best technically was probably Buddy Rich.
