Marcus Bent in Indonesia:

He said: “I can’t find the words to describe how special that club is.
“I’d kiss the Everton badge now if I had the shirt – that’s how passionate I am about them. I’ve become a fan having played there.”

Seriously nowhere near Charles' calibre surely?

Statistically Beckham's won more, skill wise I couldn't comment as I have never seen Charles play.

But like anything, it's a bit subjective. Beckham certainly has his career overlooked for his off the field lifestyle which in some ways is sad because he has been a part of a hell of a lot of winning teams.

Beckham joined teams that won things - often to sell shirts. BFD. As for John Charles - who here has seen him play? Basically you look at what the media say and agree with them. Gazza did well at Lazio for a bit. Keegan excelled at Hamburg. Lineker scored plenty at Barca. McManaman is a good shout though.
