Its pretty much this. For as long as i can remember we've always gone with the ' up and coming this guy has potential ' manager. There is absolutely no way we'd be in the mess we are in, toothless every season, bottling every derby for over a decade, if a decent manager was with/had been with the players we've had and have currently.
