Who is our 21st century iconic player? Do we even have one? For the 19th century we have players like Edgar Chadwick (despite him later going on to play for Liverpool lol )

For the early 20th century there is clearly one contender, obviously the great Dixie Dean.

Post war, when the world was no longer in black and white, perhaps Bob Latchford deserves a mention, and Graeme Sharp too, being our highest post war goal scorers, but for me the post war legend simply has to be Neville Southall. Here's a pic of him shouting down a great white;

So we get to the 21st century, and do we have a true legend, a bona fide icon? No poll, just suggest and maybe later I'll add a poll with everyone's (serious lol ) suggestions....

Rooney.

He spent a long time here coming through the ranks and then a couple of seasons at first team level. He is head and shoulders above anyone else in the 21st century who's played for this club and his name is just as much associated with Everton as United.

There will be millions of Manchester United fans in the far east that don't have a clue that he played for us.
