Not content of posting gifs in pervious seasons games where Distin does nothing wrong as some kind of "proof" he's not up to it now, you're even posting gifs and blaming him for the goal conceded when he wasn't even on the pitch :

@bizzaro when you've finished looking for gifs of Distin can you reply how he was at fault for a goal when he wasn't on the pitch.

C'mon. Distin is 36 and Alcaraz played a handful of games after being constantly injury prone throughout his career. It must have crossed his mind, everyone on this forum highlighted a CB in summer, we knew.

We did get a left sided CB in the summer - Galloway. He's young but reports from those that watch the youth team are that he is very promising.

Martinez probably figured that having Jags and Stones as first choice, with Distin (who was good last season), Alcaraz and Barry as senior backups plus Browning coming through and Besic/Hibbert in an emergency he had enough cover until Galloway could make it into the senior team. It is far more depth than we have in any other area of the pitch, whether it is the required quality is a different question.

Regardless of who is best worst etc, the defence isnt capable of playing as a unit this season and simply cant hold the line collectively hence weve conceded the most goals in league except for QPR. the captain never speaks on the pitch as far as i can see. in fact ever since he became n england regular ive had my doubts about him but he isnt solely to blame. there is no unity back there whatsoever. If martinez cant sort it he should go and pulis who has a great record for not conceding should be appointed. we are everton and yet have the second worst defense in league this season..wtf?!

As you say Galloway was unlikely to play this year but you can't fix all the problems within a team in a couple of seasons. Personally think lack of depth on the wings was more of an issue during the summer and still is now but our defence does have an awful record this year so can understand the shouts for a new CB who can play now.

If we are ever in a position again where Distin is the only established CB able to play, I would rather play Barry or at least give Browning a run out providing it's not against superior opposition or Liverpool.

I was a big fan of Distin last season and if people told me he was finished I would disagree but this season he has been so awful in every area he has become unplayable in my opinion.
