I need to refresh myself, but wasn't there an Egyptian book (I think) that most of these religions were thought to have evolved from? My mind is blank currently.. I'm sure the book was repressed for hundreds of years... Hmmm, come on brain..
The book of the dead came from the sumerian influences in their tablets

A lot of that places Zoroadtrianism as amajor influence, but there is a seperation via timescale, closer is the monotheism of Ahkenaten in Egypt, itself influenced by Zoroaster, but a huge break in Egyptian tradition, enough to have it erased from Egyptian history, almost.

I do believe there is a one common origin and discoveries keep pushing the timescale back.

Eden, for example, in that link, is argued as originating in Turkey at Gobekli Tepe these days, and we all need a bit more fluidity in interpreting the intent and representation of old texts, as much in what is excluded as included, the dead sea scrolls being a prime example, not many know of the book of jesus, or the book of mary, let alone hugely influencial tracts such as the book of enoch.

No one ever liste s to me, I have a degree in being ignored, so I read a lot :)

Lot of it is luck, reading books in the right order so they make more sense.

I also believe a lot of stuff is hidden from us deliberately so that tends to make me more cynical when reading.

There are some brilliant researchers out there, as well as cranks. Great place to start for a concept is Andrew Collins' From the ashes of Angels, deals with the placing of Eden and the concept of angels/messengers being knowledgeable shamans, great read

:)

If I ever won the euro millions I'd become like Indiana Jones and search the world for lost civilisation sites.. Just blows my mind the potential history of the world that still largely remains unknown to the masses.

I'd not know where to start researching however, I guess when the kids get older I will get more time!

Some of the more interesting places aren't that far away, find a book called Uriels Machine, lists loads of British megalithic sites, granges, henges etc, they are everywhere, found one up in Cumbria by my brothers and explained its symbolism to him and he was stunned. Circle of stones with an altar facing sunrise and each of the stones represented a hill in the area, he even got his compass out to check where I pointed was east :)
