Which of our youngsters can step up next season ?

Let's go to Swansea and get the 3 points, hit the 40 point mark which will see us safe and then think about looking at one or 2 youngsters to blood ahead of next season.

It will seem like we've nothing to play for but the youngsters getting there chance won't see it like that and will want to make there Mark and impress!

I'd like to see what Galloway is capable of at prem level. Apparently he's been impressing at U-21 level and we've invested a lot of money in him so let's give him his chance to show his credentials!

Henen also looks a talent, why not give him some minutes here and there ahead of making a decision on wether to buy him or not? Ledson could be another to give some game time when he gets back from the Dallas cup.

The likes of Long, Green & McAleny may aswell stay out on loan and get minutes under there belts in the championship & league 2. All three have done ok by the sounds of it so let that grounding and experience continue.

But saying all that, I'd be surprised if Martinez did give a few of the youngsters a chance towards the end of the season. He might give one, possibly 2 of them a look, probably Ledson and one I've not mentioned, Browning, an opportunity, but that'll be it I bet. But if I was the manager, and I'd got us safe and there was nothing to play for after, id be having a look at one or 2 of the young lads that I had high hopes for, put them in, either from the start or off the bench, and see how they handle it and get on. Sometimes when you've got something to play for, your a bit hesitant in giving the youngsters a chance and go with your tried and trusted but I'd say we're safe now and have nothing to play for so from now until the end of the season I'd give one or 2 who I think could possibly have a future as a first teamer at the club, a chance to stake a claim ahead of next season.

......the timing has to be right to blood a youngster. Galloway looks a class act to me but if there is a weakness it could be with his upper body strength. If the coaches think the summer will see him fill out it could be a real negative to put him in too early.

If they're good enough, it'd be great to see Galloway and Browning take the squad places of Alcaraz and Distin.

The official site has the following academy graduates listed (post 2000).
Barkley, McAleny, Garbutt, Agard, Akpan, Anichebe, Baxter, Bidwell, Chadwick, Clarke, Craig, Duffy, Forshaw, Hibbert, McLeod, Mustafi, Osman, Rodwell, Rooney, Vaughan, Vidarsson, Wallace.

My assumption is that this is the list of current professionals that have graduated from our academy (post 2000)

I think Browning needs a season out on loan to get proper game tine and experience. If possible a Premier League team but Championship would be ok. If we buy a new centre back Galloway could be 4th choice playing for u21's and getting opportunities to sit on bench.

If I were Bobby, I'd call Stones into my office, sit him down tell him how great he was, how he's going to be first choice with Jags next season, then let him disappear off on holiday for the last 2-3 games and play Galloway for them.

Galloway is at the stage where he needs a run in the first team to see if he's up to it properly or not. No shame if he isn't we pick up an experienced CD over the summer to cover while Galloway continues his development.

Stones could do with a rest before the U21 World Cup because he'll only get a few weeks after it before pre-season, and that to us is the priority. A short holiday before the end of the season would do wonders for him and hopefully prevent the slow start to the season players get due to Summer competitions.

Funnily enough I 100% agree with this one. That way stones gets a good break for himself and we try out another player in his position

Timing is a big thing but if we do have high hopes for him, why not give him minutes in the last few games when we have nothing to play for?

I get your arguement about how slight Galloway is but so was Stones when he got thrown in at the deep end last season, and tbh, he still is. Gangly players like Stones & Galloway don't usually fill out till there late 20's, early 30's anyway.

I just feel that if you give these youngsters a taste of it, show some faith in them, it encourages em to give more to try and break into the first team and make them believe and want to be apart of it more.

.....yep, I'm not particularly talking about Galloway, I'm making a general point that the player has to be ready. I'd be delighted to see a couple of them get some game time this season.

Hmm, get what your saying but where some players you can see and tell are ready, some you need to just put them in and they either sink or swim.

I think Galloway would be capable of making an impression. He's already got a little experience down at league 1 with MK Dons and I don't think making his premier league debut for us would phase him as much as a youngster with no first team game experience at all.
