looking to take a mate and fellow blue to an away game up north, he's been to a few away games in London but the atmospheres not been great at any of them. Years ago I used to go to more away games and always found the ones up north had a better atmosphere... But it's been probably 15 years since I last went to an away match up north.

So my question is, other than the big games such as derbies etc (which will be impossible to get tickets for...)Which away fixture traditionally has the best atmosphere.

I always liked the trips to Lancashire town clubs.

Burnley, Bolton, Oldham, Blackburn, Wigan and the like.

Handy jaunt over there, always plenty of Blues and tickets were plentiful.

I don't know if that is any help to you as none of those teams are in the EPL except Burnley and we have already played there now so probably Boro would be your best bet.

Or Hull.

crystal palace.. oo

i meant the home fans though never read first.
citys /utd is always top atmosphere but most are
to be fair we always sell out

West Ham is usually good as we usually win.

Yeh....I'm gonna miss that place.went to the Olympic stadium during the Olympics and it did nothing for me as an athletics stadium. Love the old grounds.

Up north though....sadly atmosphere nowadays is less guaranteed. The winning helps but I think we all really get behind the team if the players are bang up for it. Sadly it doesn't always seem that way and possession football is turning football into test match cricket.

United away, the oviedo one, was electric but that was like a once in 20 year thing.

Lol we went to West Ham last season funnily enough, it was alright. Was good that time we scored 3 goals in like 4 mins and won 3-1 in time added on.
My head would fall off if we did such a thing now.

3 goals in such quick succession was incredible.

Also on West Ham, beating them twice in 4 days in 07/08 was impressive too.

The replay at Sunderland a few years ago was a great atmosphere.

Stoke might be a good one. I know it's not really considered in the North, but it isn't too far away and it's a mid week trip so tickets may be easier to get hold of.

Or Boro. Was a great atmosphere there last season but that was in the Quarter Final of the League Cup and we had 5,000 there.
