When will commentators realise that lots of goals does not mean a great game?

Seriously, today was a perfect example of it. It was a **** game, low on quality, yet Parry and Quinn decided it was the best game of all time*. I mean wtf?

*may not be an accurate reflection of their thoughts

To be honest Sky don't often do that although I don't have the commentary on when Parry's doing Liberpool games so it might happen then. It's usually ITV who try and convince you you're watching the greatest ever game. I don't know why they do it, you're watching it anyway.

I think from a neutral perspective, I would define a great game as one having lots of goals, end to end and fast paced, lots of chances and near misses, controversy and perhaps an unexpected winner.

I would say out of the five, this one had three or four of those things to an extent. So it certainly was an enjoyable game if you were perhaps a Swansea fan, though I wouldn't be as bold as to classify it a Premier League classic.

Lots of goals scored from cracking attacking play is fair enough, however 5 goals today were scored from defensive howlers and that isn't great for anybody who appreciates great defending just as much as they appreciate great attacking.

surprise surprise, when liverpool are in the discussion you're not far away, how old are you btw?

also swansea fans watch nice football so i very highly doubt they would have enjoyed liverpool's route one approach up against stoke's nicer but still ****e passing display.

Yeah, I'm fine with open attacking play and lots of goals. Terrible defending and lots of goals isn't much fun to watch. The midfield play in that match was almost as bad as the defending.

I've noticed this when they talk about City this season, watching a team steam rolled only interests the winning side

This could well be their downfall in the Champions League. Smashing teams domestically is great fun, but that's no practice for when things get tight against quality continental competition.

I think banging 16 goals past spurs, arsenal and utd is decent enough practice. Scored about 60 goals in the prem alone so far this season.

All things considered I think they will give barca a game..... more than a game actually
