not yet...Rom's about 1/3 and Cottee's about 2/5.

EDIT: actually, you're right...taking his loan period and all competitions Rom is a bit better than 2/5. Wow.

Last time we had two league hattricks in a season : 1993-4 (Cottee twice)

Last time two players scored league hattricks in a season : 1991-2 (Beardsley & Cottee). That also answers the original question : the second of these was scored on October 5th.

Last time we had three league hattricks in a season : 1985-6 (Lineker 3 times)

Last time we had more than three league hattricks in a season : 1953-4 (5 in the old Division 2), and in old Division 1 1938-9 (4)

All these pale beside the achievements of Dixie Dean who scored hattricks in 7 Division 1 games in 1927-8, and just to show that was no fluke, netted an incredible 8 in 1931-2 !
