If I agreed with you, we’d both be wrong.
This Article that I read today. A man caught an 11 year old pouring liquid on his wife and he slapped the girl in the face and now he's in court on assault charges. The child has time to prepare a victim impact statement before sentencing, what makes me fume is the neck of the girls parents allowing this to go to court, If one of my lads was involved in something like that and got a slap for himself I'd be mortified tell him he deserved the slap and I'd March him right to where the couple worked to apologize.. instead this girl is probably going to get a cash settlement for a slap she got for being a complete thug. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.ir...r-pour-liquid-over-his-upset-wife-928954.html

Too many parents take complaints of their children's misbehaviour as an assault on their parenting skills and ego.

The girl committed an assault first and in that provoked a response . In a proper society, a decent lawyer surely would counter-sue and so the case in all likelihood would be dropped. Sadly we live in a society where children go from having no responsibilities straight to full. We live here in a modern society where children are unreasonably doted on and their paths through life bulldozed flat by inadequate parents who attempt to compensate.

In my eyes, that means the girl has got away with it, which is wrong. The parents should be fined.
Having said all this, I'm commenting on the gist of what you said, without having read the article. If it turns out the girl was only a couple if years old then the slapper was a bit out of order!

She is 11.

Although it was wrong of him to slap the girl, you’d hope that the court would use common sense in this case and the mitigating circs would be taken into account.

There are some 11 year old girls who look older. In my eyes, she's old enough to know that what she was doing is wrong. If she didn't, then it's her parent fault.

It's easy to scream 'who'll think of the children' - but put yourself in the man"s position. Some little scrote is pourin an example unknown fluid, could be water, could be acid, could be lighter fuel over His wife. Does he wait fir a lab toxicology report before taking appropriate action? No - you take direct action to stop the assault.

I grew up in an she where people rightly got a thick ear for doing stupid stuff. As a result, doing stuff like this never crossed our minds. Society was more self regulating and tax payers money not wasted on such utter ridiculous cases.

Would people think differently had it been a boy? A cuff will see him right? Let us remember then the enlightened age of equality in which we live where gender is irrelevant.

Dangerous line of argument talking about how old young girls can look to be honest. Also worth pointing out that the reverse obviously applies and some 11 year old girls look younger than they are.

The ‘in my day’ argument is just a joke really. Unless you lived in a crime free age (you didn’t btw) then the point just doesn’t stand up. Doing stuff like this never crossed my mind as a kid either but just a couple of miles from where I was 2 kids my age tortured and killed James Bulger. You can’t just use your own experiences as if that reflects society as a whole.

I take your point. Arguing this is what courts are for, where hopefully all the circumstances can be dwelt upon. It's hard for us to say really.

If I ruled the planet, the killers of Bulger would be permenantly in prison and grateful for their lives.

What I meant about the age is that, also g with not waiting for toxicology, in the heat of the moment you equally don't ask to see a birth certificate before deciding on an action.
