What's wrong with science journalism in the U.K.?

The Telegraph used to have a good science bit in their print paper a few years ago but, like many papers, they've chased the online dollar. With falling print sales they've tried to get lots of page impressions for their website to pull in ad revenue. The Telegraph for instance were one of the most popular sources on Digg for ages, and the likes of the Mail and the Guardian are amongst the most popular news websites online. Sadly, sensationalised headlines get more shares etc. than decent ones. More shares = more page views = more money.

That's kinda the reality of things. Whilst not a science publication, the Economist has a decent science bit at the back, and has an excellent technology section each quarter. They can do that though as their subscriber base has grown so they don't have to chase money through spurious means like the daily's do.
