Our Day Out - Willy Russell

Yeah needless to say I was like WTF? I wanted to slit my wrists. I also watched his highly acclaimed documentary on Liverpool, and couldn't figure it out for the life of me. It gave me NO sense of growing in Liverpool at all.

Of Time and the City? I loved it!

Not sure how he managed to get through a childhood in Kirkdale with that accent, though.

Don't know about "best ever" but 'One Summer' was a good gig..and 'A pair of Jesus Boots'. Time and the City could have been shot anywhere. 51st State is the only time I have ever left a cinema before the film finished.

It's an interesting point. Does that matter? It seemed to be about Liverpool to me.

Maybe because you're from there? To someone who isn't and wanted to watch and become immersed in Liverpool...like shketo said, it really felt like it could have been any number of places for most of it.

The guy barely mentioned football...hates the Beatles (even though he would have been a young man at that time) and barely mentions them...I don't know, I just thought it was a wasted opportunity. How can you have a documentary on Liverpool and not even mention Everton or RS? My guess is football has been pretty important to the people of Liverpool over the years.

Would love to see a first rate documentary on Liverpool someday.
