Genuine journalist? in a sporting context? They are as biased as any of us and will write anything to fill pages while keeping in with the current in crowd, mourinho, wenger et al. If they lose access and approval of those guys or do not write to appeal to supporters of current sky favourites they are out in the cold.

Doesn't have to be massive detail. Like I said.

Even % only is better than nothing. Breeds confidence.

It sets things apart. From the fake websites highlighted earlier.

Take it up with Danny, might be better done privately than in an open forum.

Will do at one point chaps. Likely to be a few weeks - manic at min sorting things before going away. Will be interesting to me - but probably depressing, I tend to not think about cost! My point re unofficial websites was meant to be a side comment, wouldn't let it distract from point of thread.

Its true though.

These clubs are on 'mission creep'

Banning journalists and setting up fake fans sites.

Unsettling to say the least.

What I think everyone wants is:

Everton-+it's fans to get a fair crack of the whip and not to be patronised by journalists

Journalists to be able to fairly report on - the club. But GOOD INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM

- financial and club strategy matters and if needed give the opposing narrative of the club (who have their own interests). Public interest.

- question why Everton still have no stadium capacity/upgrade plan in place +55,000 up. Public interest.

- if players or staff (on multi million £££) contracts act contrary to good conduct rules applicable to most people - it should within reason and the law - be reported. Public interest.

The current trend is unacceptable.

Pushing genuine and good journalists who don't 'make things up' out of the sport.

Which we all are taking for granted.

Plus insidious ways of replacing genuine independent fans sites like @GrandOldTeam

Journalists don't ask probing questions of Everton anyway.

I'd be in favour of the club banning tabloid journalists that spend the entire summer writing lies about our players supposedly leaving and unsettling them in the process.

The likes of Darren Lewis & Matt Law would be at the top of my list to ban.

Notice.

'Genuine' in the thread title.

Contracts aren't arranged in 1 week!

Darren Lewis peddling trumped up 'disillusioned' made up lies.

A fraud of a 'journalist'

On the contrary there is some genuine journalism here

This wasn't an investigation piece. Simple reporting of the accounts. But this triggers investigative journalism later.

Its this type of genuine independent journalism that MUST BE PROTECTED

Ok @bizzaro I get what you mean by genuine but the amount of genuine journos that ask probing questions of Everton is so miniscule that it's not really any issue in my opinion.

I'm not saying Everton aren't badly run in numerous ways, but Newcastle being badly run is far more transparent and far more of a soap opera than us, quite frankly, thus an easier & simpler story to write for lazy journos.

Our biggest issue (well, besides the inept board that only a section of our fans ever seem to challenge) is the constant negative perception of the club being peddled by the 'popular' journos. You say Lewis and Law aren't 'genuine' and I totally agree and have tweeted those same exact examples myself in the past. But the problem is they are prominent and do have a voice, and feature frequently on the likes of Sky and Talksport, shaping moods and perceptions.
