Anything to watch out for on Ridgelines? My dad's been looking at one. Think he's kinda waiting to see what happens with the Colorado/Canyon as well.
If there's one car company that I've been consistently disappointed with, it's GM.
Used to have an Alero. It was like my 4th choice, but I needed to get something as I needed it to get to work. Out of the three cars I have owned personally, it's the only one I truly hated. The Ecotec sounded like a sewing machine and the entire car went on a 45 degree angle every time you took a hard turn. Also the interior was ugly as all hell.
I was quite happy to sell it before I went on my study abroad.
I don't know anything about the 2nd generation Canyon/Colorado, but the first generation appears to be a complete miss. They were built locally, and I didn't hear one good thing about them. Hope the 2nd generation is better, the small truck market needs more good options.
I love my Ridgeline, but it's a quirky truck and you have to know what you're getting. He should also know that it's being discontinued as they retool with a redesign for 2016; I have no idea what it will look like. The Ridgeline is a good truck for someone that lives in the city. The AWD works well and the trunk, bed, and rear seat storage are great and versatile. Only complaints I've had are relatively minor: rear differential fluid needs frequent flushing (something to do with Honda's AWD setup), which can be pricey ($150); seat materials aren't tremendous ("durable" cloth); something else I've forgotten*. I like the ride (unibody construction), it drives well, and is very versatile. It's probably not as good as the Tacoma, but it's a great medium sized truck. (Mine is equipped with Honda's VTEC 6; I assume it's still built this way, and that's a very good engine)
*Door seals need cleaning about once a year, or gunk builds up and causes water infiltration; weird problem
