the result!

and obviously to come back against one of the best
teams in the world, top 5? from 1-0 down also missing a penalty
i think thats enough to please many of us blues (y) COYB!!!

Difficult to pick just one thing, but, among the many was the sight of Tim Howard actually becoming 'unglued' from his line and coming out to a couple of high balls toward the end of the match.

More please Tim.

Yeah, sorry about that.

One of these days I'll learn to give members multiple choices, say best three or something like that.

if we had of scored that i dont think we would have held them out the 2nd half.We wouldnt have been the dominant side in the 2nd half and they would have broke us down eventually like a few years ago.

The speed, the closing down, the challenges put in especially in midfield, the steely resolve of losing Fella and Pienaar but digging in and putting Chelsea to the sword. Chelsea did not pay Donovan the respect that shower over the way did, and he caused problems all night. Bily played the ball tidily and involved Baines whenever he could, who gave them problems on the opposite flank to the 'Don', so their defence was stretched and they were all over the place. Ivanovic is not a solid right back, sooner they get Bosingwa back the sooner that gaping chasm will be shored up for them. Zhirkov to LB J.Cole to left mid, such strength in depth should see them push all the way till May and mean only we have taken four points off them all season. Everton FC - peak to trough in a matter of days, then back again. It is never simple is it.

Always "travel in hope" but I kind of expected the usual effort and a 2-1 reverse (draw would have been fairly satisfying) so to actually win sans Felli and Stevie P reflects on how much we have moved on since Mikel got injured last year. It was great to see Mikel start again although I don't think he had an outstanding game or indeed was the key player on the park. Landon Donovan was excellent, Louis too (despite the missed pen.), Distin (and Heitinga - bar leaving Neville to cope with the situation where we conceded) excellent. Tim Howard solid. Cahill much better... the collective effort and quality was, therefore, very pleasing.

Any time you get anything from the best sides is worth relishing. Any time you end a depressing run of results against a side with a win is even more pleasing. To do it after conceding against such a good side - coming on the back of the depressing showing at The Pit - is even more commendable. If this side could just be more consistent (and a little bit more luck please!) then who knows!?
