What the feck is going on with music festivals these days?

Bruce, your prayers have been answered. Ian Brown today confirmed he's playing the Isle of White Festival. He is a bloody legend (y) And if you get near the front he might give you his harmonica like me ;)
 

Good grief, they really are hosting an 80's revival. The Stone Roses debut album was a classic but that was 20 years ago! Neither the Police or the Sex Pistols have done anything for around that length of time and I'm not sure the Stooges have either. I suppose there's always the identikit British indie band, the Kaiser Chief's to get excited about, or the soundalikes Lily Allen and Katy Nash.

Heaven help us.
 
I've seen him a few times on Jools Holland (and the like) and came across as only slightly more coherent than Shaun Ryder, which is saying something. I'll perhaps give them another chance.

He is a big fan of Max Jaffa(y)
 
Those bands are playing and headlining because they can draw a crowd, people want to see them.
Admittedly The Sex Pistols are probably way past it in terms of nostalgic value (and any other reason to see them other then who they were).
But The Police wrote some of the greatest songs of the last 30 years and there is a whole new generation of fans who still like their music but never had the chance to see them live. Now they do.
