What rules would you change for the good of the game?

Get rid of the penalty area - use a semi circle (or similar) instead like field hockey but not to create a difference in severity of offence
Penalties should be for a DOGSO offence (not a red card - which should be for violent offences only) wherever it is regardless of an arbitrary line. Fouls by defenders could be awarded a free kick behind the line.

Big change :) but the penalty area being a hard line causes massive amount of problems for officiating the game - and therefore more angst

No substitutes allowed after, say, the 85th minute.

It is an acknowledged fact that managers make substitutions in the closing minutes so as to "run down the clock".

To waste time, in other words.

Id reinforce the rules regarding blatant penalty box fouling before dead ball kicks. There seems to be unwritten leeway given for generalised man-handling/obstruction a la Skrtel...yet in free play, penalties and cards are given/shown for the same tactics. Its becoming the norm for it to be allowed at free kicks and corners. Its crazy and needs stomping out.

didn't want to start a new thread on this one.

was watching the Euro cup final in the pub last night and my brother in law said that if a player is booked during the 90 minutes then if he receives a second yellow during extra time then he doesn't get sent off as it's deemed a new game.I actually laughed as in all my years I've never heard or seen that. However, everyone in pub said I was wrong, and there was a fella there who is a referee in local football who confirmed that it's correct.

this morning I've gone looking on the internet and the only thing I can find is it is correct in Gaelic football but nowhere can I find it in Association football.Am I wrong ?

Sounds like bull to me?

I may be wrong but didn't Lucas Leiva go in the cup derby replay in this circumstance?

That would have to mean that if you were suspended for the game but that suspension expired after this game then they would have to allow you to play the extra time. If it's a new game then surely they'd have to change the officials, re-check the players footwear, re-submit the team sheets, allow three more subs to be used etc.

I think you're right and your brother in law is a joker.
