What happens to Goodison?

Perhaps a tad premature given how we are still in the early stages, but as hard to imagine as it is, with new developments concerning the potential of a new stadium perhaps some thought should be given to what happens to Goodison Park should we get our stadium move in the not so distant future.

There is unimaginable amounts of sentiment for us all in what is the staple of what Everton FC's rich history is built on, proudly held at our grand old lady.

I am not clued up on what happens to stadium land after the acquisition of a new stadium takes place. So for those who know, what are the processes involved regarding what happens to Goodison Park?, should we see a new home ground stand proud in what will hopefully become another iconic location.

There have been a number of high profile ground moves in recent history, City's Maine Road move and Arsenal's Highbury departure. And we all know about West Ham's move...

The Emirates isn't that far from where Highbury used to be, and Spurs are moving right next door. So our move will be somewhat different should we build on the proposed sights that have been looked at this week.

So how do we make sure that a part of our Goodison heritage is preserved? What could/should happen to the Goodison ground and it's land? And is it out of our control if and when we officially move into a new stadium?

I know I wouldn't be happy with the ground turning into one big car park, or blown up for scenes in a Hollywood movie...

So depending on a potential move, how would you like our Goodison departure handled, and what formally goes on when a club leaves a ground behind?

Erect a giant one of these and point it at Anfield:

It will be a Tesco.

Sad, I'm sorry but it will. No subsequent buyer will love it like we do.

The site of Dixie's record making will be the meat aisle.
