What happened to the tiki taka then

Welcome back Wayne
Did I miss it, I know we had 60% possession, but seriously what happened to Brendans Philosophy?. I kept looking but they didn't actually do anything apart from winning two dodgy free kicks from which Gerrards delivery ended with the ball in the net, and a stuffy breakaway and an O.G......is that it, is the philosophy to win free kicks and let Gerrard fire in great crosses......

Their midfield was completely out played. Allen barely had a sniff, and Gerrard did nothing at all except those dead ball deliveries. I thought Shelvey outplayed them both when he came on, which says a lot.

How Gerrard is still England captain is beyond me.

I have to admit I was quite pleased to see Shelvey on the bench as he brings a bit of steel to the middle. Gerrards dead balls are still fantastic but for me that was all their 'attack' was based on. I remember Allen getting in the way of Felli, who then walked all over him and also gave him a kick or two before actually winning the free kick, and the overhyped Stirling falling over, kicking Baines and completely miss hitting in front of goal. I was genuinely disappointed that they had forgotten all that Brendan has taught them from his dossier......bring back the tiki taka......

In spite of them labelling us a 'direct' team, they only looked the slightest bit dangerous when they played the ball over the top for Suarez and Raheem Wright-Phillips.

That a centre midfield pairing of Neville and Osman overran their midfield (as good as any in europe, apparently) was shocking. I forgot Allen was playing until the final 15mins.

I'm disappointed with the result as but for a mistake-ridden first 20mins we dominated the game, but, I think I'll get plenty of laughs from that lot over the course of this season.

I thought he looked like a total non-threat all game. I've never been so un-terrified of him getting the ball against us before yesterday.

Honestly, i missed the very start of the second half as i was making a brew in work.... for the next 25 mins I genuinely thought Gerrard had gone off for Shelvey, that's how bad he was..... I had a look on Rawk earlier and somebody posted " Has Allan let Fellaini out of his pocket yet ? " .... honestly, they are THE most deluded and blinkered self righteous knobheads on gods green earth..... I think it's a case of " if you say something often enought you will in the end start to believe it"........I would be embarassed to be a RS fan after that performance from the best midfield in Europe... totally over run by Neville and Osman... and that's not an overstatement !!

Exactly......

Keep mentioning how sh*t they were, and we still couldn't beat them. Joke really.

Sad but true and last season like this the phrase 'if we can't beat them now we never will'

.

I certainly agree with that and that when they really worried me .

Im sure most will disagree but I think shelvey looks a decent player

He does. Can't see all the fuss about Sterling though.
