It's always interesting and exciting when a new manager takes over. I remember when Howard Kendall came back in 1997/98, first game was against Crystal Palace at home and we got beat 2-1. I remember Atillio Lombardo playing that day.
I was there when Walter Smith took the reigns a season later and our first game was Aston Villa at home, it finished 0-0. It was a good chance to see our new signings like Materazzi, Dacourt, Collins, Madar. I'm not 100% sure on this but I think the game was opened up with a Scotsman playing the bagpipes and it was very motivating, you got that feeling in your stomach.
Also when David Moyes joined the club in March 2002, that Fulham game and the goal by Unsy.
All 3 times were exciting and there's no reason why this time will be any different. It'll be more exciting for me as I'm now an adult and I will appreciate it better.
