What criteria makes a 'Big' club?

Difficult one. I feel like the criteria changes frequently, as fans of crap, once-big clubs try to convince themselves that their club is still big, because that gives them comfort somehow.

This time next year we’ll be foundering in mid-table of the Championship and screaming “BIG CLUB” and “HISTORY” in the faces of bewildered Plymouth Argyle fans.
