Just watching footy focus and in the show write up and then during the show about twenty times Utd vs the red****e was referred to as a Derby, my understanding was the only derby involving two different cities typically was when they only had one team in that city, Barcodes vs Sunderland etc
Nowadays it seems to get used for anything with two teams from the same region, Villa West Brom (Midlands Derby etc) and now Utd vs the ****e, Newcastle or Sunderland v Boro etc in recent years
Guess the question is why the need to try to oversell a game that already has interest by slapping the derby title on something which simply isn't and never has been one?
