So for the purpose of this one, obviously if you saw a band in their prime, you can't name them. This isn't the best 3 shows you ever saw, it's the best 3 shows you never saw.
I tried this, and a week later it's changed. Posed this a girl mate of mine who goes to all the gigs with me and she struggled with it too. Tough to narrow down.
Here's what I came up with:
The Smiths - this was an easy one. They broke up before I could see them. They are in my top 2 of all time, and by all accounts they were brilliant live. No brainer.
The Pogues - Another of my favorites that broke up before I could see them. Yes they are touring again now, but i have a feeling MacGowan's alcoholism has ruined his abilities. I have an old VHS from the Pogues live at the Town and Country on St. Patrick's night, 1988. It's just about the greatest thing ever.
3rd is tough. Some bands I'd considered....The Clash, Queen, The Who, Echo & The Bunnymen, New Order, Nirvana.
I'm going to go with The Clash. Ask me again tomorrow though.
