Heres the preview;
West Ham v Everton
We don’t want to jinx things by starting with any of that corner turning talk but a draw away to Man City and a win at Stamford Bridge in their last two away games is a great return for any side. No matter where they sit on the table. The key now is to follow it up with a win at Upton Park against a West Ham side which is hinting at a revival of its own.
Avram Grant’s team have still lost two of their last four and have managed just three wins all season but their form which has seen them pick up seven points in their last five games is the best run of form they’ve managed to put together all season. Carlton Cole also looked more like the player who earned an England call-up earlier in the season but they were still a little lucky with Fulham’s players squandering several good chances.
Speaking of squandering chances, we’re still waiting on one of Everton’s frontmen to hit form. It really doesn’t matter which one either. Tim Cahill is now the favourite player to score first at 5/1 and the way the Hammers have defended at times this season the Australian could cause real problems with his late runs in to the box. The extra time off because of the postponed Birmingham games means we should see Jagielka, Pienaar and Osman all feature whilst Arteta returns from suspension. The Spaniard at 8/1 will prove a better bet to score first at 8/1 if the strikers’ poor form continues, as will Stephen Pienaar at 14/1. Louis Saha has scored on Everton’s last two visits to Upton Park and he’s 2/1 to score anytime and make it three in-a-row.
The 13/10 on Everton to win is worth a decent bet and although they aren’t the most prolific on the road, if they have a real go at the Hammers there are goals to be had, so Everton to win 2-0 at 9/1 or even 3-1 at 17/1 could be real money-makers. The Toffees have won this fixture for the last three seasons and given there more recent away form there’s no reason to believe they’ll come unstuck this time either.
