Player Valuation: £1.5m
I watched highlights of this game on the Big Match revisited the other night. It started with a West Ham attack and attempt on goal. Then it cut to another
West Ham attack and attempt on goal. After this it showed Everton in possession. We passed straight to one of their players and the move ended with
a West Ham attack and attempt on goal. The game ended 2-2 but we were awful (and they were bottom of the league) and only had 2 attacks - good conversion rate though. The rest of the game was a steady stream of them playing us off the park/us packing the defence.

The team was;

Lawson - for years he vied with Dai Davies for the title of 'worst keeper in the first division'
David Jones- big and daft
Pejic - I quite liked Pejic
Lyons - big and dafter. 'Mr Everton', he was a skill-less 'kick 'em up in the air merchant
and perennial loser
. It's no surprise that our era of greatest success came as soon as he left
McNaught - typical 70's centre back. No better or worse then most
Darracott - squad player
Hamilton - did he do anything in an Everton shirt other than making us hate Clive Thomas?
Dobson - class
Telfer/Goodlass - are they two separate people? I know one of them scored but they were both otherwise anonymous. No wonder the West ham midfield bossed the game
Latchford - got zero service but still class
Sub; Pearson -meh

Gordon Lee had dropped Andy King & Duncan McKenzie. Now, I know that McKenzie was mercurial but I take that to mean that, every now and then, he'd do something worthwhile. Surely that's more than Telfer/Pearson/Goodlass can say?

Anyway, I found it all a bit surreal - getting frustrated at a game of football that ended 42 years ago. Perhaps I need therapy.

Wait a moment, I support Everton...……...of course I need therapy!
