West Ham reduce ticket prices

The cost off party bubbles the kids buy and blow out every home game has gone through the roof this this was announced

Subsidised prices from a club receiving probably the greatest gift from the public purse any sporting club has ever received!

Let's not forget that WHU have only payed 2.5 Kones (£15m in English) for a 99 year lease, are paying £2m a year in rent for a stadium that cost the tax payer £429 million initially and whose reconstruction has been funded by £60m from Central Government, £40m from Newham Council and £20m from LLDC. In addition the GLA through Boris Johnson have contributed another £25 million.

Surely Goodison is well paid for though or does it cost us a fortune every year? I know you didn't even mention Everton but It would be good if they passed on some of the extra TV money to the fans for a change. not likely I would think.

They are reducing them so that they can fill a stadium thats quite clearly too big for them. With Normal prices they'd be lucky to get 40-45k in their new gaff.

WHU have to GIVE 4-5k tickets per game to local groups. When they did this at Upton Park for a game this season, it nearly got very messy when the locals got their prayer mats out on the concourse at HT. There are probably some YouTube vids about.

Cutting the price of ST's is purely an effort to get bums on seats, they struggle to sell all the ST's for the 36k capacity UP. They always have full page ads in the London papers trying to sell last minute tickets even for the 'big games'.
So true
They need to fill 20k extra seats than what they have available now
Great location for a stadium though

good luck to them at least there having ago, few teams that have had new staduims have either made it cheaper or give tickets away for next to nothing, sunderland used to give thousands to the community, one of my man city mates used to get in with him and his lad for less than my parkend ticket when they first moved as well.

Everton supporters were left disputing claims that West Ham are setting a good example after finding out they will have to pay £55 for their trip to Upton Park on May 16.

Despite the fact the fixture will have no significance on either European qualification or the Premier League relegation zone, West Ham have made the game a Category A match.

West Ham have justified the decision by pointing out that the club’s final home game of the season is virtually always made a Category A game because of end-of-season events such as the presentation of the Hammer of the Year award.

Travelling Everton fans are unlikely to be placated by the fact that they will see the West Ham player of the year crowned ahead of kick-off.

Everton fans will be paying £55 for the privilege of watching Sam Allardyce's team

Everton supporter Kathy Keig said: “I feel absolutely exploited by West Ham. Charging £55 for a ticket is pure exploitation and they’re exploiting Everton fans because they know we will turn up and sell out. Last season we paid £42 for the same ticket, so that’s a 30 per cent increase, which is ridiculous and can’t be justified.”

It's a move in the right direction but I don't like the whole spin on it. Can't help but feel it's less about the increased tv revenue and more about filling the new stadium, selling seats they previously haven't had, all be it at a relatively low price. I'd imagine Gold and Sullivan stand to make a tidy profit by selling up in a few years time.
