We love you West Ham

Player Valuation: £50k
Hi everyone. Once again, thanks a lot for making me welcome in your match preview thread. Was a lot of fun interacting with you lot.

I was just out picking up dinner from Tesco's when I thought up the idea of an article where I ask you lot some questions about the match, get your answers and put it all together then publish it on the site.

1)Looking at the match as a whole, do you believe the result was deserved or not?

2)I can't go through with these questions without asking about that penalty decision. Do you think the referee made correct choice?

3)What is it with Lukaku and always scoring against us? Seen that a few of your lot are not the biggest fans of the Belgian. Personally, i'd take him over Andy Carroll any day of the week.

4)Who was your standout player (good or bad) from West Ham?

5)Given our performance yesterday can you see us beating Newcastle at their ground next Sunday?

I will leave my opinion here for you as well. At best, I think we deserved a point. For a majority of the match I thought you lot were the only ones who were in it to win it. We pulled out finger out for the last 30 mins of the second half and the game really opened up.

As for the penalty, I do think the ref made the wrong decision but that doesn't change the fact we deserved a draw at best. It was our final home game of the season and Sam just did the same as usual: playing players out of their preferred position and continuing to play Cole/Valencia up front on their own when they are not built for that kind of job.

Let's just say, you won't see me shedding any tears should his contract not be renewed. Anyways, thanks a lot once again and I am looking forward to your replies.

Thanks a lot for your answers. I won't need anymore questions answered as I have more than enough material to put the article together.

Hello mate,

1) I think we deserved the win overall though definitely not at our best.
2) Seen them given more often than not and couldn't have complained if it was given.
3) A lot on here expect Lukaku to be the finished article right now because we paid 28 mil for him. He's a good finisher and great when facing goal with the ball at his feet but his heading, hold up play, positional sense and first touch still need a lot of improvement.
4) Downing has looked a completely different player this season given a lot more licence and played in the hole. Also the young left back obviously looks a huge talent.
5) I hope you smash the barcodes and they get relegated :)

Got a lot of time for West Ham, one of my best mates is a Hammer and we usually beat you even when we were at the lower end of the league! Also my first ever game was away at Upton Park in the mid nineties as I live down south so fond personal memories too :)

Good luck next season, especially if Fat Sam gets moved on!

Thanks a lot mate, really appreciate it. Love your profile pic. Absolutely loved Dexter.......well, apart from the last couple of seasons that it.

1) I didn't think we played our best yesterday but West Ham weren't great either, maybe a draw would have been a fair result although in the end I thought we were the better side.

2) It looked like it should have been a penalty tbh

3) Lukaku seems to have your number, not sure what it is but it's been 6 games in a row now. People complain about him because he cost £28m but he's the best striker we've had in years and he's only 22 already scoring 20 goals a season.

4) Probably Downing, he looked good yesterday.

5) Newcastle are terrible, you should easily beat them. They just lost to a relegated QPR.

1) Deserved
2) Seen them given, foolish of coleman though
3) Roms boss, unfortunately we have many cry arses in our fanbase who are expecting an aguero or something
4) Good- thought downing played alright and the keeper made a few nice stops.
bad- Cole
5) You'll walk over Newcastle, most teams do

1) Probably. We had more chances but then you've got to score them and I think it was a pen for the Coleman handball. So we deserved a win but a draw wouldn't have been a huge injustice.

2) Penalty for me.

3) So would I, although Carrol's not too bad. The thing with Lukaku is he can look like an absolute donkey for 89/90 minutes and in the other one win you the game like he did yesterday. A better quality to have then playing poorly and not scoring.

4) Galloway maybe. Got caught out for the goal but had a good debut. I gave Stones man of the match but that's not standout because he gets it every other week. McCarthy wasn't at his best.

5) Definitely. I hope so anyway.

1: For me,i think we shaded it on the whole, but again for me,i only think we went for the kill when we went 1-0 down,at 1-1,i thought we might win, but the longer the game went on,the more i thought it ends 1-1, with the usual hope as ever of us scoring a late winner at your Ground

2 It was 100% definitely a pen for me,for me,you cant even use the excuse he was close as i think he was a bit far away to use that meaning

3 I love Lukaku, brilliant player, can do more in certain areas, but to many expect to much of him for me,20 goals this season and not been his brilliant best for touches of it,been young he can only improve, but hey what player cant improve

4 Dont really know who to say lol,but i will say Downing, another player who uses Everton to score there 1st goal in a few months,at least it was not a year or whatever

5 Newcastle can hardly win at home since xmas anyway, you can hardly win away most of the season, but you have done well there in the recent past, think it might end 1-1 or you to sneak it hopefully

1) Think we edged it. We had more shots and more on target, also more possession but that means nought really. Felt Adrian had more to do than Howard, though it was a cruel way to win.
2) Honestly didn't get a good enough look at it and can't seem to find any footage of it? So can't comment.
3) Everton fans are fickle and often very knee-jerky. He's had a hit and miss season and has clear weakneses in his game, but he's 22!! 20 goals for the season in a team that has struggled to create much, playing in a system that doesn't suit him and a role that does not get the best out of him. He's great, sod the naysayers, I adore Romelu Lukaku.
4) Downing. Not wholly consistent but showed moments of excellence and looked the player most likely to damage us. Which he did.
5) You'll bum them and hopefully relegate them too.

Woah. Wasn't expecting such a quick response. I don't need many more, otherwise the article will too big for a casual read. Thanks a lot for all of your answers, I really appreciate them.

Think we just shaded what was a bit of a nothing game tbh. I was most pleased with seeing another promising youngster make their debut and hold their own.

Could have been given, though I think it is harsh to give a free shot at goal for an unintentional hand ball of a cross, but that is one for the rules to sort.

Lukaku is a great Preditory striker. He needs a regular partner/settled side to bring the best out of him.

Cresswell, Downing had a good game too.

No idea. I expect a 1-1 draw tbh, neither side look like winning football matches currently.

You getting the impression we dont like Newcastle @We love you West Ham !

Stick around mate. We have tons of regulars from other clubs, @Yid4life and @49ers are local to you. Plus palace fans.

Hahaha. I am starting to get that impression. As for sticking around, I would but I have a huge project I am going to start working on which is not We love you West Ham though it is football related. I just won't have the time to become a regular. One thing I can say is that I will at least be back twice as season :p

But before starting on the new project, I am off to Turkey for a week on Tuesday so I most likely won't even get to watch our the Newcastle game...although that might not end up being a bad thing in the end.

Hope you lot absolutely smash Tottenham next week. Not only because they are our rival club, but to better our chances for European football next season. It seems we are not going to be able to rely on Liverpool to do the job.

1)Looking at the match as a whole, do you believe the result was deserved or not?

Yes, it was a pretty even match. We won the 3 pts and you won the all important card battle.

2)I can't go through with these questions without asking about that penalty decision. Do you think the referee made correct choice?

OH IT WAS MOST DEFINITELY THE CORRECT CALL AND MY USE OF ALL CAPS, BOLD LETTERING, AND ITALICS IN DEFENDING IT SHOULD IN NO WAY BE MISCONSTRUED AS SARCASM.

3)What is it with Lukaku and always scoring against us? Seen that a few of your lot are not the biggest fans of the Belgian. Personally, i'd take him over Andy Carroll any day of the week.

Because Rom is a most excellent player, and our POY. And while he may be frusturating at times, he is surrounded by many Everton players of lesser abilities whom he is dependent on getting him service. If we were to get say 30-40M for him I can't really think of anyone else who would make us better. (Benteke?). I think Carroll is decent and I think he's a good fit there, its just he seems to never be fit.

4)Who was your standout player (good or bad) from West Ham?

Downing. Though I get the feeling that Downing should be a standout player more often and never seems to be. I feel like he peaked at a young age at Boro and never really took that next step.

5)Given our performance yesterday can you see us beating Newcastle at their ground next Sunday?

Yes and relegating them would make many on this forum very happy.

Proper club West Ham. Good luck in EL after winning Fair Play League. New manager and new stadium to follow. I reckon the future is something for you to look forward to. To answer your questions....

1. Neither side did enough to deserve winning it but obviously we had just enough at the end to win it.

2. Questionable. Had it been given we'd have been rueing our typical bad luck again this season. Don't think Coleman intentionally handballs it but it deffo hits his hand.

3. Good that we've finally got a striker who other teams fear cos of his scoring record against. Caroll is a cart horse. Can See him playing for middlesboro next year if they get promoted.

4. Your young defender stood out. Thought our young lad Galloway had Koyote in his pocket for most of the game.

5. I hope you stuff them and they get relegated.

Thanks a lot for your replies. I have more than enough material to put the article together. Sorry to anyone who might answer the questions after this who won't get into the article. At least your fellow fans will see your thoughts anyway.
