I haven't read the entire thread but Brown would be nowhere near our starting 11! I would pick Jags, Distin and Heitinger ahead of him at CB and Coleman and Neville ahead of him at RB.

Hes signed a four year contract at the age of 32 ( i think ) and injury prone.

How can any Everton fan at this present time be 'relieved' at not signing a player who would improve the defence as a whole ? As it stands our 'Incoming' players list come September 1st will be very short and read like a who's who of obscure European clubs, so yes the opportunity to sign some steady experience on the cheap wouldn't have gone amiss.

Of course its not the be all and end all, defensively we aren't too bad, and we can and probably will sign younger talent, my issue was with the incinuation that Brown or O'Shea are liabilities that wouldn't improve us.

John O Shea or Wes Brown would improve our defence as a whole ?

Thats a matter of opinion mate , and my opinion is that they wouldnt .
