Remember 1977 of blessed memory.

When we reached the semi final the excitement was palpable and that chant rang out at every game in the lead up to the great Clive Thomas swindle.

A few years later we were Howard's Army and only the name changed.

Big Joe's Army was the cry in 1995.

We were Moyesie's Army in 2009.

It is a measure of the disenchantment currently gripping Evertonia that today, on the last home game before yet another semi final, there were no massed choirs singing about Bobby's Army.

Not even a "Tell me ma, me ma".

It is just heartbreaking the way the life is being sucked out of our great club.

I have never detected such pessimism among our fans on the eve of a Cup semi final :(

Said exactly the same at the Palace away game this week Khal - never known the away end so lifeless. Not even many comedy abusive shouts either!

If they can't get themselves up for a derby and a semi final whatever their misgivings about Martinez they should really be questioning themselves as professionals IMHO mate.

God bless you @Khalekan

Fifty years ago we were on our way to Burnden Park to play Utd. I was completely certain we'd give them a game and if the gods were with us, we'd nick it.

Fifty years later and I'd fear Crewe!

Amen brother.....

A few weeks ago I genuinely fancied us to beat either West Ham or Man Utd comfortably.

Now, I can't see anything other than a hammering, we are woeful.

50 years ago we finished 11th in the league United finished fourth ,we hadnt conceded a goal in the cup, Catterick was attacked by our own fans for dropping Alex Young , The [Poor language removed] played Borussia Dortmund in the cup winners cup final (and lost).
grasping at straws ? probably but we have got to believe without dreams what else have we got?
