We're chit, and we're going down - but why does nobody in the media think so?

Big Fat Sam

I remember this song being sung quite often during our terrible years in the 90s, with but "you're" instead of "we're", and another word instead of "chit".

I genuinely don't get how literally all of those in the media are talking as if we're safe and will be in the Premier League next season. Have they not seen our form? Do they not see we only realistically have three games left we can win this season? Forget all away games and forget City and Liverpool at home, our only winnable games now are Brighton, Newcastle and Southampton at home. We're quickly being sucked into the relegation mix and seemingly everybody in the media is oblivious to it?

Why?

Realistically we need four points, six to be sure if we can't get that from nine games we deserve to go down. But yes we are still in danger. They think because we have Fat Sam and some good individuals we will be ok.

Next year is your year....honest to god

Plucky Old Everton , will finish about 12th with 45 points after Allardyce came and saved us from relegation.

That’s the story they want and the story they’ll get.
Alright mate - so tell me where we are getting 11 points from?

Will pick up enough points at home to finish mid table. The decision should already be made to find the right manager for next season.

I genuinely don't get all this optimism. Have people not been watching us this season? Talking as if it's a given that we'll win our home games against non top six sides. It's the same weird assumption that's being made in the media, like there's nothing to worry about because we'll get enough points somehow. We're absolutely appalling, I'm concerned for every single game we go into.

From the outside, 2 sides who have only mustered 27 points all season to somehow get 7 points more than us in 9 games is unlikely.

The same weird assumption that the rs will win the league next season eh?

You can count the good performances on one hand this season. And arguably the only good performance of the entire season was a second string team against some Cypriot no hopers.

Cause we won’t get relegated and will pick up enough points to survive. This season has been ‘chit’ this season mind you though.

Certainly not optimistic, but realistically there is a very good chance we win the next game and move to within touching distance of safety. My only concern is Everton’s habit of bucking trends and slump busting. Burnley have never won when conceding first in the prem, Sam Allardyce has never been relegated.....
