Love how people will rationalise anything.

I mean, yeah, it's too easy to be negative and make fun of it and all that, but still....

Even for 'back up/sit on the bench' - this man is 41 years old. He is no longer good enough to sit on Glasgow Rangers bench every week, a team that wins virtually every week in a 2 team joke league. Why is he suddenly good enough to be 'back up' for Everton?

The lowering of standards at Everton that some fans seem to be so accepting of never ceases to amaze. Come on, get a grip. We are Everton Football Club. We shouldn't be signing a 41 year old player UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. No amount of being skint justifies it. I'd rather have someone like Upson (a free agent) on a pay-as-you-play until the end of the season than an old man like Weir. If your reasons for accepting Weir signing is simply 'We're skint', maybe you should target your ire at the person(s) responsible instead of accepting such embarrassing decisions.

^^^ This imo!

Oh that's nice of him. Cheers Davie. Everton is just a cash cow for you to milk after all. Just come across when you want for a nice little earner off your old mate.

You do talk some ****e.

How dare David Weir want to return to his old club in a coaching position ? He's an evil man for doing so isn't he ! Despicable.

1) Pay as you play deals aren't even legal
2) Upson would want more money per week to do the same job
3) Weir would only be backup for a couple of months, not the rest of the season.
4) Upson isn't a free agent.

If he does arrive and its for purely in a coaching capacity then fair enough, no one will argue with that but if he's brought in to provide cover in anyway shape or form then it is an absolute disgrace, I remember seeing him in one of his last games for us about 5-6 years ago and it was painstakingly obvious that he wasn't up for it anymore and he was rightly moved on, considering the level of football in the SPL I'd way Weir would struggle in League 2 now never mind the premier league, Kenny Sansom anyone??????
