We need to talk about Sunnerland

Bryan+

Player Valuation: £35m
£114m spend, about to sign a title winner from Leverkusen. Xhaka is set to be the club's eighth summer signing, following the arrivals of Enzo Le Fee, Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki, Reinildo Mandava, Chemsdine Talbi and Simon Adingra.

Thoughts?

cc @chicoazul hello mert

This will be our 7th signing when it goes through.

Leeds already have 7 through the door.
Burnley have signed 10.

We had such a poor squad compared to them, so we really need to bring another 4 or 5 quality players through the door, yet.

Midfield looks strong. Defence and GK look weak. We need to target them areas now and another striker would be good.

Dead exciting for us. Exactly what you dream about as a football fan. After years of signing jobbers in league one.

How many teams “win the transfer window” and struggle in the season ahead though. But then again, we only need three worse than us, and two could be Leeds and Burnley.
So never watched the documentaries about clubs cos I can imagine what it’s like, I feel sorry what happened to clubs like Sunderland because of the leeches like Rodwell.

Dunno what’s worse tbh. The lads taking the piss out of your club, like Rodwell, but have talent. Or, as we had in league one, being forced to watch the lads who are trying their hardest but simply are not very good at football and are poor for league one levels - and their representing your lot.

Lee Burge, Conor McLaughlin, Tom Flanagan, Jack Baldwin, Laurens De Bock, George Dobson, Josh Scowen, Aiden O’Brien, Callum McFadzean.

I could go on.

I know that we have not been in League One like your club has been but we have had a similar experience with players to the one which you have described. We have had heaps of supposedly better players (e.g. Amadou Onana) who didn't really care about the club as well as our fair share of players who definitely appeared to care about the club but just weren't good enough - such as Jack Harrison. I am quite confident that supporters of most clubs could also point to having had a similar experience with players.

Lots of signings, not a lot of PL experience amongst the whole squad.

Wouldn't be shocked if Xhaka has more PL Apps than thr rest of the squad combined. Will be a hard season.

Quite a risk they’re taking but at least they have 48,000 through the gates every game to raise the turnover bar some, unlike some of these no mark clubs like Brentford.
