I don't think it's that simple anymore; not when there are players involved in relegation battles who wouldn't have looked out of place in a top-six squad before the latest TV boom.
Dyche tried to stick with a group of workhorses two years ago, and all it got him was relegation without the embarrassment of the serious hidings that a mentally weaker side would have taken. This time around he's added some quality, and that's what's given them a fighting chance.
