Don't wear one myself, but what's the deal here?

They can cost anything from £10 to £10,000 and all do pretty much the same thing, and do it just as well. Who's got one that they spent a bob or two on? Knowing me, I'd only leave it lying.

Like an idiot I've just bought my daughter a Michael Kors watch for her Birthday this week. Would never spend that amount on a watch again as I never wear jewellery myself but it's her 16th birthday so needed something a bit special....she can't even tell the time..

I like them better as jewelry than necessary timepieces. Looked at some in a shop the other day, Breitling options. They were a bit beyond my budget, somewhere from $3,000 to $30,000 (maybe £2,000 to £20,000). Not a fan of diamonds on a watch, but there is something elegant about a good looking watch.

Watches are to men what purses are to women. Not sure if I'm saying this correctly (may sound overly Yank). Anyway, a bag is a bag. They do the same thing, but a fancy one is a status symbol. If you don't care about materialistic things, it seems stupid. My phone is the only timepiece I need.

There's an article about a British watchmaker, R.W.Smith, based in the Isle of Man, who hand makes watches the basic of which costs £85K and then upto £500K.......come on Kurt you mingebag get her one of these......
