The inactivity in the January window has cost us the best (only?) chance in years to qualify for the CL. Because lets face it this has got to be the weakest PL season for many a year. I can only presume that financial controls were responsible. If not then either the Club has been very short-sighted or Ancelotti was content with settling for the Europa League. Both bad decisions.
The previous window shutting only a few weeks earlier was where we missed out in my opinion.
It was the only a few games, but that’s when the injuries and suspensions hit us.

I’ve never really understood the logic about it being a bad time to sign players in January... Surely its another opportunity for our supposedly world class manager to add to the squad

Unless we are involved in the higher level comms of football, how would we know that? Are players put up for sale/loan publicly?
If there was any players available that was not just fringe players from top clubs i would love to see us getting them but it never happens does it
we are in the market for fringe players and past sell-by-date or young talent just the way it is

....I’d respect these threads if somebody opened them after we beat the Reds, but it seems lazy to me when points like this are raised after a bad defeat. I’m not keen on ‘after a defeat threads’.

Nobody knows if the club had monies available and nobody knows if targets were available. I’m sure if a vital player was there to be signed we could’ve signed him.

We’re progressing, let’s not forget there is still the Walsh/Koeman debacle to clear.

I feel we're trying to adopt more of a 'buy players that will improve us, rather than just panic spend money bringing in anyone' approach to our transfers now.

Does that mean you think we were right to sign iwobi because we could do no better?

That stinks to me.
