The inactivity in the January window has cost us the best (only?) chance in years to qualify for the CL. Because lets face it this has got to be the weakest PL season for many a year. I can only presume that financial controls were responsible. If not then either the Club has been very short-sighted or Ancelotti was content with settling for the Europa League. Both bad decisions.

The "best chance in years" was still about a 1% chance. That's not a good bet.

No point risking loading the squad with more Alex Iwobis for the sake of a pipe dream.

Said this at the time, but I think if there wasn't anyone available to improve that lot - and there wasn't - it was best to not buy anyone. We've got a squad filled with panic buys, the mistakes of previous regimes and players who know they are on the way out and its that which is responsible for these sorts of performances - noone is arsed because why would they be?

We've never really made a decent long term signing in January, and have signed some absolute garbage that we couldn't offload.

Even now we're only a point or two behind the top 4. Hardly a 'pipe dream' to qualify ahead of the likes of WHU and Leicester!

'Settle for the europa league', if only it were that simple!

I'd put us no better than 50/50 to qualify, and that's not kneejerk to tonight, we need to finish above at least two of Liverpool, Spurs and West Ham. Not sure i fancy us to do that.

We couldnt spend big because of rubbish players on enormous money who contribute nothing and wont leave.

In the summer we need to break our spending records though because if we dont back Ancelotti properly then we may as well not employ him.

It is if our squad isn't as good as theirs and key players are constantly injured.

In Leicester's case, it doesn't matter how grim a club they are if they've got a better squad this season.
