Player Valuation: £10m
Given we all want and accept that we need quite a few additions/changes to the squad to be capable of challenging for top 4, was this such a bad finish with the squad available.

In other words was Marinez' ultimate downfall at least in part down to his embarrassing post match quest to tell the mdeia about the positives when all was clearly not going well. Under pinned by his tactic of maybe over hyping the squad and labelling individual players as "phenomenal", "diamonds", "world class".

I don't think he would have tunred it around and the players where clearly lacking stamina, but could he have lasted a little longer with a bit more of a truthful assessment of the team and their performances?

Thank goodness he didn't and hastened is own end, just thought that given the money we need to invest was our squad even that good last season?

Take into account the amount of times we were leading only to concede late goals and lose, and also how many points we could've won if we'd been practising set pieces and ask yourself how much higher up we could have finished.
Also how many times we lost concentration and conceded late on due to them being unfit.

We got glimpses of a great squad for periods of games last year but it couldnt see 90 mins out (or 98 if you're Chelsea!)

The absolute bare minimum a manager should be able to do is keep his team fit enough to compete for 90 minutes..

The interviews were annoying but it was the negligence of fitness, defensive shape, set pieces, pressing etc. that killed him.

He persisted with a self indulgent style of football that killed the atmosphere within the first 15 minutes every single week, it would not have improved if he had stayed. At least we've all earned our stripes after sitting through the clubs worst ever home record over a season.

Considering the amount of points we dropped through abysmal defensive organisation and the amount of wins we threw away, combined with poor fitness levels of the players, yes, that squad should have been getting 60-65 points
