Walking Dead on CH 5

As separate mediums they should be offering totally different experiences and on the whole they are successful with that. Closest thing to a show that has tried it is Misfits a show that varies between brilliant and dreadful in the same episode. Being Human of course is a nice variation on a theme too but I fear that has peaked already.

It's the only example, sadly. "The Cape" is the only other instance of a modern day superhero show, in this vein, I can think of. And that sucks. Badly.

There's clearly so much potential here though. TV doesn't get the same respect as film, but as an avid fan of both, I have to say I prefer TV... infinitely. So much is lost and missed out on when you have to condense everything into one 2 hour chunk.

I didn't really include British shows, as they have what, 6? 7 episodes a year? Which doesn't give you that much more screen time than a film. I'm not saying quantity trumps quality, either. I'm just saying.

That said, I'm a big fan of Misfits and Being Human. Although I was mainly talking about comic book-esque superheroes, not so much vampires and other lore. Then I could mention everything from True Blood to the X-Files!

And Misfits is a bit too comedy-oriented to really offer the same kind of experience Heroes did. Although, I'll reiterate, I'm a big fan of Misfits. I disagree with you when you say that Misfits is dreadful (sometimes) and Being Human has peaked. I think both are in fine form, and I look forward to their next seasons. Although the bombshell at the end of the last season of Being Human did make me a little bit mad, seeing as Mitchell was my favourite character!

You're completely right about them being separate mediums that offer different experiences, but I'm just saying that TV never gets taken in the same vein as film. It's a bit like the videogame industry, I feel, people don't treat it as a serious art medium. Often it isn't, but just look at metacritic (a site that compiles reviews for all the mediums). Films are flooded with average and poor reviews, whereas the other mediums seem to offer fresher ideas. Just my opinion, anyway.

I do feel that TV's starting to be taken a little bit more seriously, what with shows like Mad Men. AMC and HBO, amongst a few other networks, really deserve plaudits for the kind of quality they put out. It almost makes up for NBC, Fox and the like cancelling every show whose ratings drop 10%. Almost.

This girl had potential. Could of been a great character before being stupidly killed off.

Yeah, the potential for a hot and sweaty on-screen romance between her and the hillbilly with the crossbow was so obvious, I just can't believe they didn't do it.
