Considering we have £40m worth of midfielders on the pitch ud expect a bit better from the spineless bunch. No one expects qualification but they should at least be competitive, look at the likes of Slovenia and Uruguay, small countries with a bit of pride.

we were absolutely abysmal last night, but there is no way we than moldova/azerbaijan etc. does anyone remember the game vs england at wembley. if earnshaw hadn't have missed the most shocking of misses, we would have got a draw out of that. whereas moldova gifted a poor england team 5 goals. may i remind you that we did beat norway 4-1 only a few months back, a team inside the top 15 at the time if i'm not mistaken and at the top of their own group. we don't have a massive pool of players to pick from, but we had 7 1st teamers out again for these last two games, including the one bit of experience in our back 5, james collins, for last nights game. we were neck and neck with a very good belgium team up until we went down to 10 men and of course are missing a guy who leads by example on the pitch in craig bellamy. it's a young squad who has seen their manager die in the last year, i'm not expecting miracles or to qualify and whilst last night was a terrible performance, these lads will get better. it doesn't help that we have a captain who shows no leadership qualities what so ever but then again, there aren't too many candidates.


also, who in the media has bigged us up, just like northern ireland and scotland, i barely see the media take much notice of us even in britain??

Thats my point. If they can get there we should have been able to since 1958 at least once. Theres no pride in the team.

It depends on whether you count the euro quarter finals in 1976 or not.

Back then eight teams would get through qualifying and then the quarters would be played over two legs, home and away, and only the semis in the host country.
