Viva Hate

Yip.

I was in Portugal watching the Jagielka derby.

I had found a pub with no English at all, just locals.

They all sat pretty quietly during the game.....I was kicking every ball.

When Jags scored I jumped up and to my surprise practically everyone in the bar was clapping and laughing at the TV screen ;)

Welcome to my world...

Having spent the best part of 20 years in Asia, sometimes I'm like a one man band.

Go into pub...either one of two things will happen....
A -- There will be huge amounts of people wearing RS Shirts...
B -- No one will be wearing colours...

In the case of 'A', when the game starts I begin talking at the screen, gesturing like life or death, edge of your seat stuff...the RS 'fans' will be in total silence but seem to be watching a different game where they are 1million % already winning 5-0 in their own minds and any 'incidents' which are obvious will see them all yell in unison...deranged really...when weve manage a draw or a win then these cretins act as If it was nothing and how Everton are nothing + just totally obnoxious behavior

B -- In the case of B, it will be silence all game until/unless they score when suddenly abuse rains across the room from them...after the game more abuse...

On the rare occasions weve got something out of the game and other Evertonians are there or neutrals quietly supporting Everton each goal is applauded and cheered, and a win is applauded with a "YES". That's it....finished...go home or out.

When 'they' win...things change...songs are sung, cheering shouting...etc etc...and the abuse then goes to another level.

I absolutely hate them but could never bring myself to act the way they do...we have class in victory and defeat.

Indeed.

The journey from friendly rivalry to outright hatred started the day Emlyn Hughes opened his big gob on the steps of St. George's in front of a crowd which contained many Evertonians whom had taken a vicarious pride in LFC winning the Cup.

And that "Merseyside" chant at Wembley in '84 was more about our mutual detestation of Thatcher's rotten England, which was in full anti Scouse cry at that particular time than it was about football IMO.

And the game was played against the backdrop of the Miner's Strike and the breaking of the Unions.

The City of Liverpool was regarded as a nest of socialist vipers and we were hated by Thatcher and her lapdogs in the press....a hatred which reached its absolute heights in The Sun following the Hillsborough tragedy.

Looking back, England really hated it when us and the RS were the dominant forces in the country for a brief but glorious period.

But of course their scallies could not go to a match in peace and screwed it up for us.

That is when I started to proper loathe the buggers.

Hillsborough is constantly brought up rightly but Heysel is always disregarded. Funny that. As I said shameless club who always play the victim.

I just hate the way they make up pure utter lies. Rawk is full of it, 'rrr my blue mate said Everton are gonna win the league and the ashes now they've spent money's

No blue is like that, at all. The constant nonsense about us taunting them over Hillsborough. Why lie.

I mean, they have a lot of ammo, we haven't won a thing in 20 odd years. We've won a handful of derbies in that same timeframe. So why make up stuff.

Weirdos
EXACTLY. Their Everton thread consistently mocks us for exaggerated celebrations, yet their premature title "victory" was the most risible example of hubris. We never put on the crap they accuse us of.

Has any Evertonian actually said that? And meant it? Even on r/Everton, when people say things like that they're joking.

Also, 1) why any sane Evertonian would make fun of Hillsborough is beyond me when blues lost family and friends in the disaster, the fallout affected the entire city of Liverpool AND if we'd been drawn against Forest instead of Villa, it would be 96 dead Everton fans instead, and 2) which fans sing songs about Munich again?

American liverpool fans have been the most annoying supporters I've met and that's even before I tell them I'm an Everton fan.

Sorry hate them all with a passion, mindless "walkers" around the shopping centres in their fake shirts, ask them who their favourite player is, they have no idea.

In the pubs, just look around for the table with no ale on it, 'cos they're minge bags too!
