Mrs Caolam, myself and young Master Caolam are of to York next week. Master Caolam has an interview for University so we thought we would stay a couple of days. Any advice or tips on where to visit, restaurants, bars etc. greatly appreciated.

Plus it costs an arm and a leg to park.Do not drive in.
Park and ride all the way. It’s absolutely mental driving there.
Ace place though. Loads to do and see. One of our fave places since moving here.
If the weather is ok Caolam walk around the castle walls, it is free and you get a good idea of your bearings and can hope down and back up when you see anything interesting, obviously the Minster and it's crypt is also worth a visit plus the Shambles, make sure you have yerself. a hog roast butty from there.Mrs Caolam, myself and young Master Caolam are of to York next week. "With the tart"Went there for a week last year with the tart. It’s a lovely place, go the shambles and get some stuff from monks, the museum and Clifford tower are really interesting as is York minster. The walls are a must as well
Food wise we found a couple of lovely restaurants and did afternoon tea in Betty’s tea rooms.
There’s a ghost walk which is very very interesting, it meets my a boozer under one of the bridges. It goes on about a lot of the history of York.
Big old steam trains and beer, whats not to likeRail museum and the tour of York brewery
Surprised no ones mentioned the Jorvik Centre.
We went for our anniversary a few years ago. Cracking weekend......my daughter visited York when she was considering University. The City is lovely, plenty of nice places to eat and drink, The Shambles area is nice.
