I started buying vinyl in 1972 when I was 11, and I was a massive collector for the next 25 years. Eventually I got rid of all the ones which were cheapo reissues or else very poor condition and kept the best few hundred. I don't even have a turntable setup now, as I do most of my listening in the car or in my office (I'm a freelance writer, books about music and writing for magazines), and the office (aka 'spare bedroom') simply isn't big enough.Even though I don't play the vinyl I wouldn't be without it
Still got lots of signed stuff and collectables. Originals of classic covers like Sticky Fingers, Space Ritual, Master Of Reality embossed cover, Topographic Oceans, Killer (Alice Cooper), Brain Salad Surgery, Thick As A Brick newspaper cover, all that. Original mono Beggars Banquet. Lots of cool punk and new wave singles, like the Holidays In The Sun picture sleeve, Eater, Killjoys, Pink Fairies Behind The Lines on Stiff, loads of coloured vinyl from when that first came in
I'm getting pretty nostalgic now... I might have to flick through the collection and see what's half forgotten
