Am I the only person who thinks kompany's way overrated by the media and football fans

He seems to make a stupid mistake almost every big game , which for the proclaimed "best defender in the world " isn't very good

On MOTD com, they said some consider him the world's best defender,i have not heard anyone say that about him before, unless ive gone mad.

Poor season by his standards so far. He is a leader and has great influence, though. The season they won it was just as much down to him as Aguero and Tevez's goals.

He'll come good again.

I have never heard anyone refer to him as the "best defender in the world" but he certainly enjoys a reputation far in excess of any abilities I have ever seen him exhibit.

He's not overrated at all, but that was a horrifying mistake yesterday and I'll never forgive him for it if that lot win the league.

Out of curiosity, who would you say is the best defender in the world? I genuinely wouldn't know.

Other than John Stones, obvs.

Kompany had a bad season last year as well. To be honest he strikes me as the type of defender who needs a constant partner rather than being some world class defender. Give him a Lescott a couple years ago and he was immense. Not knowing who will play alongside him this season especially will cause him to overthink each situation and not be able to trust his instincts like a top defender should do.

Believe me if we rotated jag's partner all season you would get the same sort of performances out of him.

Unfit yesterday and should not have been selected. We can see how that decision has already caused a doubting of his abilities. Decisions like that damaged Torres irreparably in my opinion.

To correct you, not "a", but three.

He was left standing for the 1st, ball watching for the 2nd goal, and provided the assist through a bad clearance on the 3rd. If the same errors are committed by Demichlis he would be already on headlines.
