Mate I totally agree with the underlying message here; London is better than Liverpool

Simply not true, London is indeed a cess pit of dubious breeding.

Anyone got any views? I know a few sound lids from round that way myself like.

When I moved back to the UK I lived in Warrington for a few years. It has an identity crisis, likes to think it's part of Cheshire ( as per it's address ), acts more like it's in Lancashire and has a small influx of Scousers just to mix things up a bit.

It's wool, but it isn't

like proper parts of Lancashire are.

Runcorn and Widnes are considered Wool by Scousers but Scouse by Wools.
Obviously the Wools are right on this.

Only me that finds the 27 stone 'martial arts expert' story any good? What's he good at protecting, his many and varied dinners.

One of my best mates is a fireman and serves in Widnes, he turns up at a house to inspect the smoke alarms and every wall was covered in pictures of horses.

Every wall.

Plus Widnes stinks.

Parents sent me to school and college in Widnes even though we were from Hunts Cross.
Despised the place and despised 99% of the people.
I go back every now and then to see a couple of mates. Everyone in Widnes is pyaaaarrr scouse laaaa now. Does my head in. It was only 12 years since I finished college and left that cesspit, nowhere near enough time for a complete evolution of the accent.

It's 20 years behind the times, only just got some half decent shops. Pubs are still [Poor language removed] and full of scruffy bellends, and I still see the same low-grade DNA I went to school with knocking about the place, probably still living in their parents houses driving round in their shitty vauxhall novas/ S reg corsas. [Poor language removed] scruffs.

So you do don't like them then !

Runcorn is just a horrific place. I used to occasionally do an antenatal clinic in Halton that terrified me re: the future generation of that town. The older people you'd meet were lovely though.

I'm from Runcorn....

I constantly get the mick taken out of me by the missus, who is a born and bred Scouser. I take it all in jest, when I use phrases like "ice l0lly" (let's not start that again) and the way I dress - it gives us a few giggles.

I went to school with so many plastic 'plazzy' Scousers though, constantly did my head in. They probably still hang around in the pubs in Runcorn's 'old town' - luckily my local isn't anywhere near that place so I stay well clear. Speaking of which, the Shopping City (formerly Halton Lea) is like night of the living dead.. crawling with the unemployed wearing 'Cantona 7' shirts and pregnant 12-year-olds leaving a trail of pastry flakes from their prams, creating a Hansel and Grettle trail from Greggs to Jobcentre Plus..
