The first time I really read anything on this war was this year when I read Dispatches by Michael Herr. Anyone else come across that? If not, I can strongly recommend it, really immersive book and conveys really well the atmosphere among the soldiers and correspondents at the time.

Read it after it came out when the book was a huge cult hit. I think the phrase The Thousand Yard Stare emanated from it.
