The FA wants to test run using video assistants from the 3rd round of next seasons FA Cup. I'll be made up if they do this and it works because it's annoying when games are ruined by teams being given penalties they don't deserve, players being wrongly sent off etc.

Never thought I'd see the FA bring in video assistance as I thought football was too corrupt, maybe I was wrong. Really glad this is being brought in.

Thoughts?

How anyone couldn't want it is beyond me. Players making mistakes is part of the game but erroneous officiating is the longest running problem in football. It undermines the fairness of the sport and leaves the door ajar for corruption.

Do people not remember the Clattenberg derby? Or Villareal?

With the constant media led scrutiny of officials, often from multiple angles in slow motion, then it's ridiculous that we don't use these options.

I appreciate the merits of keeping some of the unpredictability we grew up with, but times have changed and I think we must try to catch up.

I keenly follow cricket and rugby as well as football and I've seen how technology can successfully be integrated into officiating games.

Obviously it won't be perfect from the outset and the game may take time to adapt, although for me the merits clearly out weigh the cons.

Anyone remember the furore of goal-line technology? The concerns? Now it's taken pretty much for granted by most of our fans...
