No from me. If we're going to be investing in a GK it should be a top rate first choice with Joel as back up, or a young protégé if Joel is in the XI.

For me Valdes doesn't fit either moulds as I wouldn't be confident as him as a first choice, and not sure if he'd be overly content as second choice.

I think he's played 6 games in 3 years and has a dodgy attitude. Van Gaal told him to play for the reserves to gain match fitness and he decided to pull a strop. I think he's finished as a decent GK

I don't think he was ever any good. Not just saying that in retrospect either; I didn't rate him at Barcelona.
