Victor Pulls out!

Yes but players don't get called up based on club in Nigeria.

It took Joleon ages to get the call up, he has been outstanding all of last season and all this season.

Heskey got called into England initially because of his club, same as Crouch. (although he may have been at Saints when he first got in the squad, but as soon as he got to Liverpool, bang he was in the first team.)

I think Victor could do a job for England, but then I thought the same thing about AJ, and to be honest he never ripped up any trees while playing for England.

This is how you get in the England side.

Path 1 - Play for one of the so-called top 4 sides.

Path 2 - Have played for one of the so-called top 4 sides.

Path 3 - Be Amazing, Be the only option available so you can't be ignored.

Unfortunately you may be a better player than those who get in via Path's 1 and 2, but it doesn't matter - you are last choice. Look at Barry now? Looks like he was just keeping Lampard's place warm. Ok so Lampard is playing well for Chelsea, but Barry played better than Lampard has done in the past year for England.

I honestly can't believe we are even discussing this. We all know the inevitability of England selections.

Joleon is only playing because Terry and Ferdinand are injured/banned. If Carragher hadn't retired, he would be there instead of Joleon, that is a dead on cert.

Arteta has been named Midfielder of the Year by Sky last season, beating Ronaldo, Gerrard and Lampard, oh and Alonso too.

He ha just been named NW Player of the Year, beating Ronaldo, Gerrard and who else? Oh year Alonso.

So why the [Poor language removed] is Alonso in the side ahead of Arteta? Why isn't Arteta getting the acclaim he so richly deserves? Because he plays for a team outside of the Top 4. Guaranteed if he went to Liverpool he gets picked.

Right on target this post.

Well, nice to see you nailing your colours to the mast. There is no [Poor language removed] way Peter Crouch is a better player than Anichebe. No way.

Victor scores goals in important games, Crouch scores goals against Jamaica.

Your going to be telling me next that Alonso is better than Arteta!

Anichebe is a good player but just because hes scored 3 goals in the UEFA cup doesnt make him an international player.

He has ALOT of things to improve on.

Plus the fact that Crouch can actually do something when starting a match, Anichebe cant continue going through his career being an impact player.

He's not good enough for England.

He is good enough for england, however, its better that he chooses nigeria, he has mroe of a chance of playing in the team, he has more recognition, and therefore he becomes more popluar.

Im upset that the likes of anichebe and cahill arent playing in the internationals, even though theres a chance of injury, i want to see them both score for their country

Ok, whilst not trying to bring in club bias here, Crouch is [Poor language removed] [Poor language removed]. We all know it. He can't head the ball, he's gangly, he just happens to have quality around him to provide him with chances. Is Crouch the best we have? [Poor language removed] me.

Cannot agree more Crouch is basically a taller version of Andy Cole, who could only score goals when provided by good player around him, opps sorry Cole infact you are better than Crouch!

I did like to see Victor plays for England but guess it won't happen unless he comes out and say that's is what he did do instead!

I don't think Anichebe is good enough for England, not yet, but I still think he is better than Crouch and I would never ever say otherwise.

The fact that Crouch gets selected is purely and squarely on his club side.

You know Ghost i usually read your posts and generally agree with what your bangin on about. but in this case i have to say "i dont agree"
to say Anichebe isnt good enough for England is complete crap. the main striker is always injured(owen) rooney aint much better, crouch can score goals which is more than some of them do, WALFUCKINCOTT nuff said.
Anichebe scares the living daylights out of defenders which is something England havent had since Rooney looked like he wanted to play for England. He is feckin fast with an eye for hittin the target, so what else does he need? please dont insult my intelligence by sayin experience cos "if they hungry, feed the m'fucka!!" experience is over-rated
guess we just ave to agree to disagree on this'un(y)

the important thing is HE SCORES [Poor language removed] GOALS!!! goals win games

what do you mean cahill isn't playing? he played the world cup and saw limited action in the asian cup because he was dealing with injuries, but still managed 3 assists.

back to the issue of anichebe, he's defintely better than walcott , he's only a year older than walcott, and how many goals has walcott scored for arsenal, 3 goals i believe. compare that to anichebe's 30! it was ridiculous to give walcott a call up at all, i don't care how young he is and how much potential he shows.

ghost is right, anichebe is good enough to play for england but he won't get the call up just because he didn't sell his soul and sign with a big 4 club. whoever posted before me is right that goals win games, but no england managers can seem to figure out that complex equation:dodgy:

anichebe has stiff competition for nigeria with the likes of obafemi martins, yakubu, and kanu if he's still in it. still i believe he has a better chance of making it with them, and honestly i believe theirs more honour in playing for the smaller national team and sticking with his roots, regardless of how good england has been to him. whatever he chooses, good luck to him!

No hes not, with have Rooney and Owen.

Plus the fact that Anichebe is NOT better then AJ or Defoe.

Anichebe is not good enough for the International scene, if he didnt score 3 goals in the uefa cup, then we wouldnt even be having this convo here.

He doesnt produce anything for 90 minutes, a player cant go through his career only being able to produce something in the last 15 minutes of a game.

Add to the fact that he's raw on alot of qualities:

Touch
Finishing
Heading

Strength and pace he has, and that's good enough for UEFA cup especially when defenders are at their worst when he comes on.

But not on the international scene.

well well well

isnt this the topic...

...i coined crouch as 'englands worst ever striker' - thats mine.

victor for england? no way, who provides his type of play? i can think of only one, and its dean ashton, injured yes, but a quality player with many more facetrs to his game.

i have been and still am a great supporter of mr anichebe, there is plenty of evidence on this site to indicate that. do i think he is england class? no, he is nigeria class and thats the end of that.

walcott - jester
crouch - lanky jester
defoe - moody jester

so johnson has played on for club and country whilst injured, with the stigma metered out by the g14 elite with regards being a diver/clever player/cheat.

lets hire pgh's 7 foot grocks, arm them to the teeth and send them out for blood every saturday.

acknowledgement (sp) and respect for those deserving has been lost in the mist of the bullshit of the media friendly douche bags.

i mean this weekend.

True about Barry. He played his socks off and deserves a starting spot. Do you think Walcott would have gone to the World Cup if he wasnt a gunner?

Good post.

Well no, cos he only went cos Wenger told Sven to take him. Unless Wenger has taken to pimping other teams players for England now?!? :P
